Standard Seven: Micropolitical Leadership
During my internship, I've learned that as a leader, it is vital to have a pulse on the students and staff in the building. While building culture is important, part of that is being aware of the day to day climate of the school. Through consistent reflection, I now understand that while having structures in place to ensure staff voices are heard and there is shared ownership, a leader must constantly be making an intentional effort to be present, transparent, and approachable for both staff and students. As I've watched my mentor principal, I've learned that this is one strand of leadership that is vital in being an effective leader.
